Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble “Lowicz” Inc., established in Melbourne in 1975, has a long and rich history of promoting Polish folkloric culture. Łowicz boasts a vibrant and enthusiastic group of Polish-Australian youth with an objective to practice and promote Polish folk song and dance and to cultivate the traditions of Polish folk culture by bringing entertainment and unity to the wider multicultural Australian community.

Łowicz has had the honour of performing at countless festivals and events in Melbourne, and numerous interstate events having toured to many major stages and venues across Australia as part of the triennial PolArt Festival.

Łowicz is run by active volunteers who in addition to maintaining the fulfillment of the groups key objectives, organise concerts, galas, and various fundraising events to connect both the Polish and wider multicultural community.

Łowicz’s heart lies with their members’ enthusiasm and passion for upholding Polish culture and traditions, and the vision and guidance of the Ensemble’s respected Artistic Directors, both past (Krystyna Straszynska, Mirosław Kuśmider, Teresa Ceberek, Michał Dąbrowski) and present (Edith Drajkopyl). In 2015, the group was overjoyed by it’s growth to welcome a cohort of budding young dancers into the junior troupe, our very own ‘Łowiczaki.’
